Founder, Lula Vet at Home

Dr Anna Bak-Bol is a veterinary surgeon providing thoughtful and compassionate veterinary care through home visits. She has worked across several veterinary practices in the UK and has developed a particular interest in senior pets, chronic illness and palliative veterinary care.

Many pets find veterinary clinics stressful environments. For older animals or those with mobility difficulties, travelling to a clinic can add unnecessary anxiety. Lula Vet at Home was created to provide calmer veterinary consultations within the familiar surroundings of a pet's home, allowing time for thoughtful clinical assessment and discussion.

Her work focuses particularly on supporting senior pets and animals living with chronic illness, helping pet parents understand their pet's comfort and navigate difficult decisions with clarity and care. Where appropriate, she works alongside your pet's regular veterinary practice to ensure continuity of care.

The Meaning Behind the Name

Lula

The name "Lula" carries both personal history and a philosophy of care. It is my nickname, derived from my birth name, Aluel.

I come from a Nilotic background in the Nile Valley, where traditions teach that all living beings carry deep meaning and deserve profound respect. This belief shapes my practice: I see animals as sensitive beings who respond to the calm, kindness, and presence of those around them.

My mother calls me "Lula" especially at moments when I need extra compassion. Her signature gentleness has shaped my life — and it is the same spirit I bring to my veterinary practice.

"We have a 10-year-old cat that has always HATED vets; she spits and scratches anyone in a uniform on sight. But she was treated like a princess, wooed with treats, and for the first time ever, she willingly came out of her box. Lucie says sorry for the 'bad language'-just a slip of the tongue!"

Our Approach

The values that guide every visit

01

Calm over clinical

Many pets find veterinary clinics stressful environments. For older animals or those with mobility difficulties, travelling to a clinic can add unnecessary anxiety. A home visit removes that entirely.

02

Honesty and clarity

We believe in clear, jargon-free communication. You deserve to understand exactly what is happening with your pet and what your options are.

03

Continuity of care

Lula Vet at Home works alongside your pet’s regular veterinary practice, not instead of it. Good communication between all involved leads to better outcomes.

04

Compassion in every visit

Whether it is a routine check-up or a difficult end-of-life conversation, every visit is approached with the same care, patience and genuine concern.

Working Together

Complementing your existing
veterinary care

Lula Vet at Home is designed to work alongside your primary veterinary practice. Clients should remain registered with a local veterinary practice for routine care, diagnostic investigations and emergency treatment.

Where we add value is in the consultations, reviews and conversations that benefit most from being conducted in a calm, familiar environment — and where an unhurried, personal approach makes a real difference to both the animal and the family.
